July 5, 2012Vigilus™ Autonomous Robot Speaks at TEDxFrontRange~ May be first instance of a robot speaking at a TED event ~Denver, CO—Vigilus™, an autonomous robot developed for patrol and report security, may be the first robot to have given a TED talk. “We’re still researching, and there’s a lot of data on TED and TEDx talks, so I’m not sure we can conclusively say that our robot Vigilus is the first robot to participate in a TED talk, but we’re quite certain that it is a rare event” said Pam Gheysar, Director of Marketing at Gamma Two Robotics. February 15, 2012Gamma Two Robotics Selected to Demonstrate Vigilus™ Mobile Camera System Security Robot at NDIA 2012 Ground Robotics ConferenceGamma Two Robotics was one of only six companies selected to demonstrate their autonomous robot Vigilus™ Mobile Camera System at the National Defense Industry Assocations' 2012 Ground Robotics and High Technology Conference. "It was a fairly intense process, applying for one of the six slots. We were thrilled to be accepted. Our robot is a great fit for many of the security needs of both the private sector, and government; we really feel that we have the right tool at the right time" said Dr. Jim Gunderson, co-inventor. The "winning" video submitted to NDIA officials can be viewed at right. For the latest videos from Gamma Two Robotics, visit our videos page, and subscribe to our YouTube™ channel: gamma2video. |

March 2, 2012Basil Greets 1000th VisitorBasil the Robot has hosted, attended and presented at over 50 functions in the last 3 years, and, as you might expect, has a teriffic memory. "I was thinking about how many people I had met over the last three years, and realized that Basil had "met" many people as well, so, I asked him for that detail" said Dr. Louise Gunderson. "When I found out we were close to 1000 people met by the robot, I thought it was a milestone that we should mark, and celebrate" she continued, "we were very lucky to have that 1000th visitor be someone as gracious as Ann Long; she joined our celebration and picture-taking with a smile." Pictured at left: Dr. Louise Gunderson, Ann Long, Dr. Jim Gunderson, and Basil.

January 29th, 2012Robot Completes Full Day's Work, AutonomouslyGamma Two Robotics’ security robot ‘Vigilus™ ’ recently completed a full day’s work, patrolling a parking garage for eight hours. The robot traveled over three miles, made 58 rounds, and reported the few anomalies it encountered to the Security Command Center (SCC). And it did it all on its own, autonomously. No person helped the robot, told it how to navigate the garage, when to yield to moving cars, nor how to avoid obstacles in its path. “For robots to be truly useful, they have to operate in dynamic, human-centric environments. Robots must be able to reason about their environment, make decisions regarding anomalies, and react appropriately, all the while completing their assigned tasks” said co-inventor Dr. Louise Gunderson. |
