Gamma Two is a Denver-based robotics development company. We specialize in autonomous mobile robots for the home and office domains. Our robots utilize our proprietary 'Cybernetic Brain': A computer based analog of a biological brain. This gives our robots the ability to work in natural environments, rather than tightly controlled environments such as factories.
The Cybernetic Brain enables the robots to:
react to a dynamic world,
deal with uncertainty,
detect problems and develop plans to overcome obstacles,
learn from its environment and adapt to changes.
This makes our robots suitable as security robots, where
they can detect changes that indicate problems, and respond
appropriately; as household assistants where they can adapt to the
needs of a specific home environment, and adjust their behavior to fit
in with the people, rather that forcing the people to change for the
machines.

05Jun2009 - Basil hosts another excellent First Friday Event
Basil hosted a party for a large crowd for Denver's First Friday Santa Fe Art Walk
Basil was serving a nice assorment of cheeses and crackers, and we found an excellent way to get kids to eat their vegetables. Every time Basil would say "Can I offer you something to eat?", the kids would grab what every was handy - grapes, celery, carrots - it didn'e seem to matter. As long as the robot recognized them as people, and offered food - they ate!
.
Basil is warming up for the next open house on July 3rd from 6 until 9, for more information send an email to Basil.
01May2009 - Basil hosts party
Basil took part in Denver's First Friday Santa Fe Art Walk On May 1st. He had a good time serving drinks and canapes.
Wilma (Gamma Two's second model prototype, the WLMA assistance robot) ran around successfully avoiding most people. (video coming soon)
06Mar2009 - Basil's Voice Input Video
This is a short video showing the voice interaction with Basil the Robot. Basil is given both simple verbal commands (turn left, go forward) as well as complex comands which invoke the complete planning system of the Cybernetic Brain.
Early (very early) on Monday morning the news van from KWGN Denver's local Channel 2, pulled up at the Gamma Two lab on Kalamath Street. Over the next few hours, Basil the robot demonstrated his capabilities, including the voice input system for interacting with the people. The voice input and speech output combine with Basil's Cybernetic Brain to enable a very smooth interaction, much like giving commands to a very intelligent, well trained dog.
The live broadcasts aired during the morning news segments (Have we mentioned that we hate live demos?), between 6:30 and 9:00 am. (Did I mention really, really early?)
